My Jessie was a miniature bull terrier, all white with a black patch over one eye.A little dog with a big heart, everyone loved Jess and he in turn loved everyone. Not only handsome on the outside but beautiful on the inside.
He slept on my pillow and was my comfort the whole time my husband was in hospital with cancer having an operation to remove 4ins. of his gullet and 2 thirds of his tummy taken away (12 years on and still doing well)I am glad to say.
He was our friend and we took him everywhere with us. It was a very sad day when he died. He had been standing in the corner of the room for a few days so thinking that there might be something wrong with his eyes we took him to the vet. She couldn't find anything wrong.On the second visit to the vet because he was still doing it. She made an appointment to go to the Veterinary Hospital in Potters Bar.The night before he was due to go.I was awoken from sleep by this terrible wailing.I found Jess on the floor, I didn,t know what to do it was 4.30 in the morning.Luckily it stopped and I stroked him until he went to sleep. Only to discover that he wasn't asleep but in fact had died. At least I was there with him when it happened but it was such a shock.So instead of going to the hospital at 9 am as arranged we were instead on our way to the pet crematorium.It took a long while to come to terms with his death and the way he died.I shiver at the thought of it now. We brought his ashes with us when we moved to Spain, so we still have him close and he lives forever in our hearts.
